Johanna graduated from the New Center for Wholistic Health Education and Research in 1996. Her training includes both Eastern and Western healing arts. She is a licensed Massage Therapist in New York State and Pennsylvania. She is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and has been a Certified Personal Trainer since 1986. Johanna take a "whole person" approach to her healing methods.
She has been in the wellness field for over 26 years. She started her career as an Exercise Therapist and was the East Coast Alliance Personal Training Director for 2 years. As a national presenter, her seminar topics included: Kinesiology, Health Screening, PNF and METS stretching techniques.
Prior to her employment with Back 2 Health, she was the owner of VIP Fitness in Baldwin, Long Island at which time she received the Who's Who Award for business professionals.
Johanna brings all of her experience to the clients of Back 2 Health. Combining her expertise with effective Chiropractic Care is a winning combination. Each patient has unique needs and Johanna is skilled in a wide range of therapeutic techniques including: deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy, trigger point therapy, sports massage, therapeutic touch, european massage, and myofascial release. is a specialized form of deep tissue massage in which digital pressure and friction are used to release a strain on the muscle. Neuromuscular therapy is used to treat soft tissue problems such as tendonitis, IT band syndrome, upper/lower back pain, hip pain and TMJ problems.

Eastern medicine based treatment in which the therapist performs massage with the assistance of a metal “scraping tool”. This is also commonly referred to as “Graston Technique”. The main goal of this technique is to stimulate blood flow to the area of injury. Stimulating blood flow to the injured area produces an anti-inflammatory response, improves mobility, reduces pain, and promotes healing. This technique is commonly used on plantar fasciitis, epicondylitis, and Achilles tendon injuries.
